Anticipated Goals
The process in training does not include provision of an exhaustive list of every known medical word needing to be memorized. It is designed as the follow-on adjunct to
Volume I and was designed to show how the words of medicine are actually used in context. Careful reading of each report is fundamental to this type of learning process, as you will note when you do the exercises. Meditech has successfully trained hundreds of transcriptionists, insurance related coders and abstractors, and billing personnel with this program.
The objectives in this process are to provide a self-directed methodology to teach a novice to analyze various medical terms and to build a solid base for a vocabulary which will continuously expand if the student pursues a health care-related career wherein the medical words (and, of course English words) will be recognized, spelled and used correctly words used in dictation will be understood in the context in which they were intended ultimately, normal and abnormal bodily features and functions will be understood and recognized all of the above in what we believe will be an enjoyable learning experience.
