After completing his A - Levels from Aitchison College Lahore in 1982, Omar Khayyam attended Columbia University in New York on an academic scholarship. In fact, he was the first and todate only Pakistani to have been awarded a John Jay National Scholarship by Columbia University . Omar Khayyam graduated with honors with a Degree in Economics. He was awarded the Leonard Pullman Award by Columbia on graduation, which is awarded to one graduating senior each year for academic excellence… and service to the College.

After Columbia , Omar Khayyam worked as an investment banker in New York for six years, first with Merrill Lynch & Co. and later with the Lodestar Group, a merchant banking boutique firm, as Mergers & Acquisitions specialist. Omar Khayyam came back to Pakistan and established Hadayat Sons in 1994. Hadayat Sons are sole distributors of GE Home Appliances and Kohler Plumbing Products in Pakistan . Operating with two showrooms with more than 10,000 square feet of display space, Hadayat Sons is a leading player in its chosen field in the country.
